Tasty cuisine to tempt your tastebuds
My friend Robin enjoys cooking and from time to time has given me recipes for some of his favourites. He has kindly agreed to share some of these and will add a few here from time to time.
His motto is - The secret to good cooking is the quality of the ingredients.

Recipe for Beef Stroganoff

This is not one Robin gave me but it is a delicious dish that I enjoy and it is fairly simple to prepare.
1 and 1/2 lbs (approx 675gm) fillet of beef.
1 medium onion peeled and finely chopped.
12 medium mushrooms chopped.
1/2 pint (approx 300ml) chicken or beef stock. I normally use an oxo cube.
1/4 pint (150ml) soured cream ( this gives the dish it's flavour)
1/2 tablespoon sunflower oil, olive oil or butter.
salt and pepper (freshly ground for preference)
a sprig of finely chopped parsley.

Slice the beef into thin strips about 2 inches long.
Heat the oil and add the beef, stirring until browned all over.
Remove from the pan and keep hot.
Fry the onions in the same pan until they start to brown.
Return the meat to the pan and add the stock, mushrooms and a little soured cream.
Add seasoning to taste. (I like a reasonable amount of pepper)
Cover with lid and simmer for approx 20 mins until the meat is tender ( I like to stir it occasionally and check for seasoning)
Before serving add the rest of the soured cream and parsley.
