1086 Domesday Book records three Manors; Holsworthy, Chilsworthy and Thorne.
1242 The Tax Roll, “Testa de Nevill” showed Robert Thorne as the owner of Thorne.
1377 Henry and Elizabeth Thorne granted a licence for a Chapel at Thorne.
1381 Further licence for Chapel at Thorne granted to Henry and Elizabeth Thorne.
1560 Edward Thorne bought Northrude and Southrude from Elizens Warwicke of Holberton.
1571 October 19th. Humphrey Thorne of Upcott had Thorne, North and South Rhude, and property in Pancrasweek and Sheepwash.
1587 October 7th. Humphrey Thorne settled his estates on son Bartholomew.
1620 4th October. Bartholomow Thorn of Upcott sold Thorn to John Henry Rolle. Batholomew is buried under the altar In Sheepwash church and was the last of the male line descendents of the Thorn family lasting 17 generations.
1876 Francis Thorn Honey died, the Vestry window is dedicated to his memory.
