1281 Simpson was described on the Assize Rolls as “Synnyaneston”
1413 October 4th. Bishop Stafford granted a licence to Thomas and Joan Raymond, and their son Raymond, to have divine service in their Manor Chapel of “Symeston” (Simpson).
1420 1420—1461 Further licence given for Chapel at Simpson.
1424 Further license for Manor Chapel at Simpson granted to John and Margery Cokkeworthy.
1549 Simpson was purchased by Nicholas and Roger Prideaux. Nicholas, of Soldon, was also known to have purchased Mores, Furse Park, Downe, Lake and Burscott.
1689 Parminius Penrose rated for Ugworthy on church terrier. Humphrey Prideaux rated £8.2s.0d. for Soldon. Edmund Prideaux rated £5.9s.0d. for Simpson, Lamerton, Lake and Blagdon Moor, the largest land owner in the parish.
1844 Stanhope family owned Simpson (179 acres) and West Simpson (272 acres).
1910 Simpson Estate sold by Earl Stanhope.
