Opened in 1879 by the London & South Western Railway, Holsworthy Station was very busy in it's heydey, the goods yard being very large for a station of this size. It's close proximity to the Cattle Market resulting in many packed Goods Trains leaving until late in the evening on a Market Day.
Since closure in the 1960's it has served various businesses with the old station turned into offices and the extensive goods yard for storing merchandise.
The buildings were knocked down and the site cleared for extensive redevelopment around 2003.
It is now the site of a new Somerfields supermarket and the new Woodlands View housing estate.
There has also been a lot of new development around Parsons Close which can be seen in the background of some of the latest photos.
